It is starting to get HOT! You need to be watering your outdoor plants and your gardens. You really need to pour the water on your fast growing tomatoes. They should be producing by now. Enjoy some of those tasty tomatoes, since they are much better than you will ever get at HEB or other stores!
INDEPENDENCE DAY 2021: Everyone knows what happens on 4 July. This year it is on a Sunday. This is the 245th Anniversary of our Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. Independence Day in the United States is by far the most important national holiday of the year. It is one of those days that the country and its people need to celebrate together. Commonly known as the 4th of July, Independence Day brings American people together in a way that no other holiday can.
What normally happens? Fireworks, barbecues and cookouts, parades and concerts, and travel. It is a time for families to get together and celebrate and give thanks for the founding of this great country. Take time to enjoy this very special day with your family and friends. We hope that Dripping Springs will be able to conduct a great fireworks show this year!
Go to Wimberley and go to the VFW Post 6441 Rodeo. It will be on 3-4 July this year. This local rodeo has been held since the end of WWII and it has been held every year since it started in 1946. This is a really good small town rodeo that is family friendly. These guys are our friends, and they are veterans. We need to support them when we can! They also have Bingo on Friday nights. Take your family and go play Bingo, as it is good clean family fun for all!
Dripping Springs also has a rodeo. Not sure of the dates yet but it is usually in later July. The events are at the Ranch Park arena just north of town. Our veterans usually do the parking for this event. Come out and help us. It is a fund raising event for us and for the American Legion Post 290.
Korean War Armistice: On 27 July we honor the ending of the Korean Conflict. We lost over 36,000 American Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Airmen. This war started on 25 June 1950 and finally sort of ended on 27 July 1953. This conflict has been ongoing for over 70 years and is still not settled. Who knows?

Have a great Summer. Enjoy the heat. Go jump in the pool or the lake!
