Well, this will be a short corner as it is hot in July and not too much is going on. The temperature is getting hot and will stay that way for a couple more months. Get used to it. Go jump in your pool or in the lake (if there is any water left in the lake!).
The first thing to discuss is that the Wimberley Rodeo is going on now. It started on 30 Jun and will go for a couple of more days. 1-2 July. We have several guys down there volunteering to help them with parking and other stuff. Thanks to all that volunteered. It is a good show. Go and see it.
On the July 2, 1926 the US Army Air Corps was established. I think that it started down at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Still the Army, but flying a few old planes. This would lead to the Army Air Force and then in 1947 it became the US Air Force. Fly ’em high.
The 4th of July is on a Tuesday this year. A great time to celebrate the Independence of our Country. I hope for some great firework displays around the area at DS Ranch Park or at Hog Heaven. Take your family out for a good time. Eat a hot dog or a hamburger. Drink a cold beer or two!!!
You have to go to the end of the month for the next big event. The Korean War ended on 27 July 1953. This is National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. Thank an old Vet that fought in Korea if you can find one. They are getting scarce. Hate to lose them. They are/were good men and women.
Then on Friday, 28 July, in the year 1914, World War I started. We were not in it yet, but we started to get ready. It was going to be the War that Ended all Wars. Yea Right!!
